The Oxygen Concentration Tester makes it easy and convenient to quickly verify oxygen concentration output of the Aithre Turbo Oxygen Maker.

The Aithre Turbo Oxygen Maker is rated to output oxygen at 1 LPM at >93% purity for 2000 hours or 2 years, whichever comes first.  The purity of the oxygen is tested at the time of manufacture and at each 2-year service interval; however, verifying the purity of the oxygen concentration is recommended before each flight where oxygen may be used or needed.  Additionally, use of the Aithre Illyrian II oximeter continuously during flight is recommended to provide a direct feedback of the body's blood oxygenation resulting from use of the Aithre Turbo Oxygen Maker.

Verifying the concentration of the oxygen output is accomplished by turning on the Aithre Turbo Oxygen Maker and connecting the Oxygen Concentration Tester to the output oxygen flow.  The Oxygen Concentration Tester will provide an indication of the purity and/or flow within 60 seconds.

Aithre offers a portable oxygen concentration tester that provides for concentration, flow, and pressure testing.  The device is pre-calibrated and is ready to use.  The tester is rechargeable using the supplied 12V DC charger and has an internal battery that should last approximately 24 hours of use.

Concentration and flow are the two most important parameters to test.  To test for oxygen concentration and flow, connect the incoming oxygen flow to the %OXYGEN/FLOW PORT.  Turn on the Turbo Oxygen Maker and set the flow meter on the Turbo control unit to 1 LPM: the ball should be in the middle of the 1 LPM marking.  Next, turn on the oxygen concentration tester by pushing the POWER button.  Cycle between the oxygen concentration and flow rate modes using the MENU button.

When the flow rate is set on the flow meter of the Turbo control unit to 1 LPM, the oxygen concentration should be measured at >93% on the oxygen concentration tester.  Also, the oxygen concentration tester should show 1.0 LPM, but the accuracy of the oxygen concentration tester is +/- 0.2 LPM, so you may observe outputs of 0.8 – 1.2 LPM.

Note that increasing the flow rate above 1 LPM using the flow meter on the Turbo control unit, even by a very small amount, will significantly decrease the concentration of oxygen produced.  Do not increase the flow beyond 1 LPM.  If the concentration is lower than 93%, then verify that the ball on the flow meter of the Turbo control unit is in the middle of 1 LPM marking.

Pressure is not as critical as concentration and flow, as it will be normal if the concentration and flow parameters are within range.  However, the pressure may be tested by moving the incoming oxygen flow to the adjacent the pressure port and cycling to pressure mode using the MENU button.  Pressure is typically approximately 55 kPA at 1 LPM flow rate.
