FAA APPROVES TURBO O2 MAKERS FOR PART 23

Introducing the Healthview II Reading FAA APPROVES TURBO O2 MAKERS FOR PART 23 2 minutes

The FAA approved the Aithre Turbo oxygen makers for installation in all part 23 aircraft.  This approval is under NORSEE making the Turbo systems eligible to install as merely a minor alteration with only a logbook entry by any A&P.

The Turbo systems approved include the Turbo digital 2-place oxygen generator system and the Turbo O2i 2 and 4-place hybrid oxygen generator/bottle systems.  These systems are each compatible with the Healthview II bioavionics control head, which is also approved and included in the O2i kits.

The net result is that pilots can now benefit from fully integrated oxygen systems that produce a nearly unlimited supply of oxygen without substantial maintenance.  The power requirement is 80W, meaning about 5-6 amps at 14V.  The total output of the Turbo can reach 1.4 LPM of 93% concentrated oxygen.

What impressed the FAA the most was Aithre's demonstration that carbon monoxide at 35 PPM is completely filtered out of the concentrated output flow.  The CO may still be present in the cabin, but will not be concentrated or funneled to the users.
