Shark Aircraft dropped a huge announcement this week with the introduction of the 600T model Shark. This is the fastest and safest Shark ever made and most importantly comes STANDARD with the Aithre Turbo Digital oxygen maker installed at the factory. That plus standard airframe parachute and modern turbulence cancellation technology show their commitment to safety as non-optional.
But the aircraft performance is where the aircraft really impresses. Being used to an IO-540 RV-10 myself that cruises at maybe 165kts and burns 12 GPH and ceilings out at maybe 18k MSL, the performance data from the factory is absolutely shocking. Shark is conservative and they are publishing data that is absolutely unreal. Take a look for yourself:
Max Cruise at FL100 181 kts
Cruise at 75% Power at FL100 173 kts
Fuel Consumption 75% Power 5GPH
Max Range @ FL100 Eco Moe 1458nm
Max Altitude 24,000 MSL
Ok, we've seen these numbers before with other LSAs, but not with a more affordable Rotax 914 engine! Due to the tandem design and small cowling, Shark worked with Edge Performance to modify the Rotax 914 to an EP914TI Gen2 purpose built for the Shark to squeeze out 126 HP. This additional turbocharged tech allows for a never seen climb rate, fuel burn, ceiling, cruise, and range at 5 GPH.
Moreover, having the lower cost engine allows the 600 Turbo to enter the market well below its competitors at just $300k.
If you are in the market for a new MOSAIC ready aircraft with factory standard safety with cross country capabilities, you owe it to yourself to check out the Shark. See the 600T at Aero in a few weeks or talk with the factory who will be exhibiting a 600 non-turbo model at SNF April 14, 2026 in Lakeland, Florida.
